Nominee Deadline Extension

The Election Commission of the Nepali Cultural Center has extended the deadline for any nominee for the Board of Directors to withdraw his/her name to November 10, 2024, 11:59 PM.

The Election Commission has also decided to organize an interaction program with the candidates on November 9, 2024, 10:00 AM at the NCC rental building as follows:

We request all nominees to attend the interaction program and speak about their candidacy for not more than 5 minutes. Please be prepared to answer questions, if any, asked by the audience. We cannot overemphasize how important it is for the candidates to actively participate in the program and let the other people know how you plan to serve the NCC for the next two years.

We invite all members of NCC and the Nepali community to attend the event and encourage the candidates to speak and answer questions.

The Election Commission will publish the final list of candidates on November 11, 2024. The previously- announced election date of November 17, 2024 remains unchanged.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Nepali Cultural Center (NCC) Election Commission is pleased to invite nominations from its members to serve on the Board of Directors, including Officers and Directors, for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2025.

  1. The nominations are available for the following 14 positions:
    • President (1)
    • Executive Vice President (1)
    • Vice President (1)
    • General Secretary (1)
    • Joint Secretary (1)
    • Treasurer (1)
    • Joint Treasurer (1)
    • Information Technology (IT) Officer (1)
    • Directors (6)
  2. Only individuals who are dues-paying members of NCC as of OCTOBER 17, 2024 can be nominated.
  3. Interested members can self-nominate for not more than one position or nominate other individuals for any number of positions. Candidates nominated must consent to their nomination before nomination is filed. One individual is eligible to compete for only one position.
  4. Nominations must be received by the Election Commission not later than OCTOBER 20,2024; 11.59 PM US Eastern Time.
  5. No person shall be eligible to serve in the Board of Directors unless he or she:
    • Has been a member in good standing.
    • Is a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.
    • Is a resident of the State of Georgia.
    • Has attained the age of 18 years.
    • Has been a dues-paying member for at least the immediate twelve (12) consecutive months or for thirty (30) days plus retroactively paid the membership fee for the last twelve (12) months immediately preceding the election.
    • In the case of the President, in addition to the above requirements, he/she shall have served as an Officer for at least one term (2 years), shall have attended at least 60% of the Board meetings, and shall have attained the age of 21 years.

  8. Nominations must be submitted to the correct e-mail address as follows:  NCCelection2024@googlegroups.com
  9. Only nominations sent to the e-mail address in #8 above will be considered by the Election Commission. Any other e-mail (other than mentioned in #8) with questions or comments about the nomination process or election will NOT be entertained or replied.
  10. Election Commission shall publish all received valid nominations no later than OCTOBER 27, 2024.
  11. Any candidate can withdraw their nomination no later than NOVEMBER 3, 2024.
  12. Election Commission shall publish the final list of candidates no later than NOVEMBER 10, 2024. All candidates shall contest the election through the secret ballot.
  13. Election shall be held on NOVEMBER 17, 2024.
